This sandwich is so easy to make and pretty healthy as well! I can’t say I’m a huge fan of turkey, normally I eat the sides more than the main dish, when it comes to turkey. The homemade bread and mashed potatoes are what I really look for when it comes to having a Thanksgiving dish. It always seems like the there is so much turkey left at our house, is that just my family?
You can make this recipe for lunch or dinner and the ingredients can be changed or omitted to your preference. I used a panini press to make mine, but it really isn’t necessary, you can just as easily grill in a nonstick skillet. If you don’t have access to a stove for lunch that’s just fine, it’s just as good cold! The avocado aioli is what really makes the sandwich.
If you want a warm sandwich then I suggest heating up your turkey and bacon in the microwave to warm up. Then if you are grilling it butter both bottom surfaces of the bread and then add you ingredients to one side of the bread. Once your pan or panini maker is warmed up then you can put your sandwich in to cook, it takes about 2 minutes per side or just 1 to 2 minutes total in a panini press.
Turkey Club
Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado
¼ cup lite mayo
1 Tablespoon chive and onion cream cheese spread
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
2 pieces of bread
¼ cup turkey, chopped
2 slices bacon, cooked
1 slice swiss cheese
Romaine lettuce
Tomato
Directions:
1.) Make the avocado aioli by mashing the avocado. Mix in the cream cheese spread, mayo, salt and garlic powder.
2.) Preheat nonstick skillet or panini press while you prepare your sandwich.
3.) Spread the avocado aioli on both sides. Layer the turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and then the bacon, in that order.
*This is just my perfect way to stack the sandwich, you can decided how you want to place the toppings.
** The aioli can be used on 4 sandwiches. I only made one sandwich for the recipe, but you can up the ingredients for more sandwiches.
